Local CurrencySt. Kitts and Nevis local currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (ECD or XCD) and is pegged to the US Dollar. The exchange rate is $2.6882 ECD for $1.00 USD, and credit cards are widely accepted.

Passport and VisaFor nationals of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Commonwealth countries a visa is not required for stays of up to six months. A valid passport and a return ticket are required.

Nevis SpringNevis is blessed with an abundance of geothermal energy and for centuries visitors to the island have enjoyed the hot springs at Bath Village. You can still enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the springs today. Nearby is the site of Bath Hotel, the first luxury hotel in the West Indies built in 1778.
The water on Nevis is from springs and wells. While locals have never had a problem drinking the tap water, it is probably advisable for visitors to drink bottled water, or to make sure that your source of water has been chlorinated. 
St. Kitts and Nevis ElectricityThe electricity is produced by Nevlec that operates two power plants with diesel generators ranging from 0.9Mw to 2.7Mw. The first Prospect Power Station, which was commissioned in 1983, houses six (6) diesel generators with a combined output of 10.7Mw. The second plant, situated next to the old plant, was commission in 2002 and currently has one generator with an output of 2.7Mw, giving a total installed capacity of 13.4Mw.
More recently in a green effort to preserve the environment, wind turbines and solar panels were installed to reduce the usage of diesel. Wind turbines represent 3% of the total electricity produced for both islands, and solar panels represent 2%. With such a good climate in the Caribbean, it is important to note that it's already been decades that most villas use solar panels to hit their water and cistern to collect rain. The electricity on the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis is 110 volt, with American (and English) sockets. It is best to check before you plug in any device. Power outage can happen often, this is why Oualie Beach Resort has its own backup generator to keep the power running.
Stay Connected from the Caribbean!Internet is well implemented in St. Kitts and Nevis with fiber optic in most places. Most hotels and restaurants offer free wifi. Popular internet, TV and phone providers are Digicel and Flow.
Both islands offer a 4G internet connection for cell phones, almost everywhere. International travelers should be able to make local calls depending on their cell phone suscription plan. Otherwise, local sim cards can be found to make calls. Most hotels have cable TV with many US network available for viewing. There are also local stations from Nevis and other nearby islands that are available on cable. There are numerous radio stations that can be received from all over the Caribbean and even the US. Some good stations for local music and news are VON Radio Nevis on 895 AM, ZIZ Radio St. Kitts on 555 AM.
